Heritage Homeschool Academy is a private homeschool located in Acadia Parish specializing in grades 5th – 8th. We offer an alternative to traditional school with an emphasis placed on students who learn differently.
Heritage Homeschool Academy exists to provide a safe alternative for students to learn. Students will, therefore, be carefully selected in order to maintain a student body of high moral standards. Heritage Homeschool is dedicated to teaching students who want to learn and are willing to help their fellow classmates who may be struggling just as much as they are.
All students (and parents) who wish to attend Heritage Homeschool Academy will have a personal interview with Mrs. Nolan prior to being accepted.

* Filling in learning gaps
Finding strategies that work for the individual student to improve confidence which in turns improves overall school performance.
Tonya Nolan is a former parochial and public school teacher. She has taught at a local private secondary (8th-12th) homeschool for the past three years before opening her own middle school. Mrs. Nolan is a graduate of the University of Louisiana @ Lafayette as well as Louisiana College. Her teaching experience has been in grades 5th-12th during her career. While she has taught every subject in middle school, she is by trade and certification, a history teacher. She is often called a history nerd and that is a title she wears proudly. Mrs. Nolan spends at least one week during every summer attending professional development training to better help her students in the following school year.
Tonya is married to Albert Nolan of Mire, LA. They have two sons, Brock, who is married to Ashlie, and Austin who still lives at home.

How do I register my child with the state of Louisiana as a homeschool student? The application to register your child is found here.
What curriculum is used at Heritage? We use a wide variety of curricula, I have found that this works best when working with students who learn differently. If something doesn’t work, it can be modified. In addition to textbooks, I also supplement with class discussions, related video clips, and audio links.
Where does my child go upon leaving Heritage? When your child is ready to leave Heritage after the 8th grade, we highly recommend Summit Christian Academy. This is our sister homeschool that teaches grades 9th-12th. If you want your child to go to public school, they must take and pass the LEAP2025. Please note that Heritage does not “teach the test”.
