Math has never been my favorite, in fact, you can ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I am famous for saying that I am “allergic to math”. It’s common knowledge in my homeschool room. My students know it and they think it’s funny but it’s really not. Math scares me. So when I was given this opportunity to try Teaching Textbooks, I jumped at the chance and I will tell you that I don’t regret it. I could probably list way more than eight, but I’ll leave you with the 8 Things I Love About Teaching Textbooks.
This post is sponsored by Teaching Textbooks. I was compensated for my time and honest review of this product and/or website. As always, all opinions are my own.
1. Full Online Math Curriculum
One of the first things that caught my eye about Teaching Textbooks (TT) was all of the things that it encompassed. When looking for a Math curriculum, I must say that I am pretty sure of what I want. Mainly because, as I said before, I am allergic to math and I need the program to do “all the things”. Teaching Textbooks did not disappoint. In my opinion, it is one of the most well-rounded and complete online math curriculum available. TT not only teaches, but also grades shows videos for every problem, and encourages students as they go along. Did I mention it does all the grading for you! {HECK YEAH}
2. Independent Study
Do you have a child who is an independent learning? Or is moving toward that style of learning? Teaching Textbooks allows for that. It is the teacher! This program does everything for the parent freeing you up for more important things, like working with another child, loading the dishes or having another cup of coffee. The program offers videos with EVERY problem to help students who might need a visual to go along with the written version. This will go a long way for a lot of students.
3. No Prep for Parents
As you may have gathered, Teaching Textbooks has thought of just about everything, right down to prep. NO PREP FOR PARENTS. Did I just hear the angels singing? This allows parents to monitor their children during math class and if they have multiple children, they may choose to work with another child during that time. No more spending countless hours preparing math lessons. TT has done all the work for you!
4. Full Gradebook
I don’t know about you but grading is no fun. What? Did I say that out loud? I remember being a young girl, dreaming of being a teacher and that was the one thing I could not wait to do. Grade Papers. What was I thinking?
Teaching Textbooks to the rescue. Each student has a grade book and grades are recorded immediately. Parents can view grades at any time and check on a variety of things such as, when assignments were complete, how many problems were done, and even how many attempts were made.
5. Teaching Textbooks is Mobile
In older versions of Teaching Textbooks, the user was dependent on software/CD’s, textbooks, and the older version of the website. Now with the new rollout of 4.0, users can access Teaching Textbooks on mobile devices because it is app-based. This means that TT is accessible via desktops, laptops, tablets, and phones.
Another feature to note with this new 4.0 app technology and the mobile version is that TT can be used offline. YES, OFFLINE. The technology allows for small portions of the software to download at a time. Only the next few lessons will download so the student can work offline and not need the internet. This is a great feature for roadschoolers or families who are on the go a lot.
6. Voiceover
One of my favorite things about this program is the voiceover. As the mom of a dyslexic child and the homeschool teacher to students who learn differently, I love any program who does voiceovers so students can ‘listen’ to the program. TT “talks” out each problem and the solutions.
7. Affordability
Let’s face it, when you are looking for curriculum things can get pricey. Add in the fact that you have several children in multiple grade levels and stress levels rise quickly. Once again, Teaching Textbooks took that into consideration.
- Math 3, Math 4, and Math 5 each cost $43.08, and since every Teaching Textbooks course lasts 1 year, that is equivalent to $3.59 per month.
- Math 6 and Math 7 each cost $55.08, and since every Teaching Textbooks course lasts 1 year, that is equivalent to $4.59 per month.
- Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus each cost $67.08, and since every Teaching Textbooks course lasts 1 year, that is equivalent to $5.59 per month.
If you are a large family, Teaching Textbooks has a plan that is wonderful. The family plan covers 4-8 children and is capped at $199.08
8. What Does Teaching Textbooks Cover
You may be asking yourself at this point if Teaching Textbooks covers all the material that your child would learn with another curriculum. The answer is a resounding, YES! It should be noted that Teaching Textbooks comes with a full version e-book, if that e-book were to be printed out it would be approximately 900 pages!!
